Linsey Docherty

I’m Linsey and I am coach for the Emerald Squad. My journey in swimming began as a child, competing with Dagenham Swimming Club. That early passion never left me. When my two eldest children entered competitive swimming, it reignited my involvement in the sport, first as a swimming teacher and soon after as a coach at Barking & Dagenham.

Now, with over 15 years of coaching experience, I remain as enthusiastic as ever about nurturing young swimmers. My goal is to inspire as many children as possible to enjoy and excel in the sport that has given so much to me and my family.

Roberta Lenghel

My name is Roberta, and I am the coach for the Sapphire Squad. I have always been an active person with a strong love for sport, although my swimming journey began later in life. As a child, I experienced a traumatic water incident that led to a fear of swimming. As an adult, I made the decision to face and overcome that fear by learning to swim.

Through this journey, I fell in love with the sport, which inspired me to become a swimming teacher. With dedication and hard work, I gained the experience needed to progress into coaching, and I am now proud to be a coach at Barking & Dagenham.

My passion for swimming continues to grow, driven by my love for the sport and the joy of seeing my swimmers succeed and achieve their goals. Outside of swimming, I am also passionate about gym training and psychology. I enjoy learning and exploring these areas whenever possible, as I believe this knowledge is invaluable in coaching.

As a coach, I believe that understanding and supporting swimmers mentally is just as important as their physical training. There are moments when a coach must first be a psychologist for their swimmers, providing support and reassurance, before stepping into the role of coach.

Daisy Tyndall

Ian Collyer

Hello, I’m Ian, and I’m the coach for our Bronze Squad. I previously competed for Barking and Dagenham Aquatics, where my passion for coaching first began. I started my coaching journey leading the Future Stars squad for five years before taking on the exciting challenge of developing our Bronze Squad.

I bring a 100% mentality to every session, believing that with the right mindset, guidance and encouragement, every swimmer can achieve great things. Alongside coaching, I’m a full-time primary school teacher, which has helped me develop a strong, natural teaching style that I bring onto the poolside.

Outside of swimming, I enjoy binge-watching TV shows, playing golf, and grabbing a good coffee.

Muadh Ahmed Mohammed

I am Muadh and coach for the Silver squad. I am a triathlete and international swimming coach with a lifelong background in swimming and cycling, having grown up training and competing in Kenya. After relocating to Dubai in 2009, I was awarded scholarships to complete my coaching qualifications in Australia and later qualified as a PADI Worldwide Divemaster in Dubai.

My coaching career includes roles with Australian International Swim School Dubai, Primus Private School Dubai, and Water Nation Swimming Club, where I successfully developed swimmers from county level through to regional and national competition pathways.

Since moving to the UK in May 2023, I have coached with Redbridge and currently coach at Barking and Dagenham Aquatics Club, supporting young swimmers to qualify for Essex County and Regional Championships. My long-term ambition is to develop athletes to compete successfully at National level, while fostering a strong foundation of technique, confidence, and a love for the sport.

Shagor Chowdhury

I’m Shagor, the Gold Squad coach and Assistant Head Coach. I have previously coached at Gators and Redbridge and worked at City of Norwich’s Learn to Swim programme, before returning to Barking & Dagenham – a club where I swam as a junior alongside several of the current coaching team.

I continue to train and compete as a Masters swimmer and recently represented at the Masters National Championships in Sheffield. This ongoing involvement in competitive swimming helps me bring current, athlete-focused experience into my coaching.

My coaching philosophy is about instilling a hard work ethic while creating a fun, comfortable environment. Helping swimmers become the best they can be as a swimmer and as a person while developing swimmers skills and race strategies. Outside of swimming, I work as a concept artist and enjoy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, climbing, and strength training at the gym.
