It was a special weekend for Barking & Dagenham Aquatics Club, as two of our swimmers, Mia Newman and Aiden Doorbeejan, representing Essex at the Swim England National County Team Championships in Sheffield.
Held at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, the County Team Championships are one of the most exciting events on the swimming calendar, bringing together 900 swimmers in county teams from across the country for an afternoon of fast, competitive team racing. More than 30 counties took part across Divisions 1 and 2.
Proud to wear the Essex colours
Mia and Aiden were selected to be part of the Essex team, joining some of the county’s top swimmers and competing for valuable points throughout the afternoon.
For both swimmers, it was another opportunity to experience racing at a national level and to represent their county alongside some of the best young swimmers in the country.
And with plenty of noise from the stands, team colours and flags everywhere, it was certainly an experience to remember!
Essex finish fifth
Essex produced a strong performance in Division 1, finishing 5th overall with 416.5 points, just 0.5 points behind Derbyshire in fourth.
Kent took the Division 1 title for the third consecutive year, with Surrey second and Yorkshire third.
A huge congratulations to Mia and Aiden on being selected to represent Essex, and to everyone involved in the Essex team.
Weβre incredibly proud to see B+D swimmers continuing to make their mark at county and national level.
Well done Mia and Aiden! ππ
